Congratulations to George Mack Jr., Black Butte Ranch, for winning the 2018 Callaway Invitational at Arrowhead Golf Club in Molalla, Oregon. George shot rounds of 68-70=130, -4 under to take home the top spot. In round one, despite a bogey on his second hole, he got hot with four birdies on the back 9, shooting 32. He gave one back on the tough #4 hole, but was able to birdie his last hole of round 1 to shoot 68 (-3) and only trail Daniel Dolin by 1 who had the low score in round 1 with a 67 (-4). In round 2, Mack started right where he left off in round one with birdies on #1 and #3, and he was cruising along at -5 under, until he made a double bogey on #6, but that didn’t rattle Mack. He continued with his stellar play making seven pars in a row before making another birdie on the par three #14. Mack was in total control of his game while others found themselves chasing and trying to make up shots. Mack made par on the final hole to win the 2018 Callaway Invitational.
Brent Murray, Oswego Lake Country Club, found himself tied for the top spot in the Senior Professional division with round of 71-74=145 after 36 holes with Mark Keating, Oregon Golf Association GC, 74-71=145. Brent Murray took home the senior professional trophy winning the playoff over Mark Keating.
Justin Kadin, Tetherow, found himself in mix again this year, but came up just a little short with rounds of 69-75=144 (+2). However, he was still the best amateur in the field by 2 shots over Daniel Dolin, Arrowhead GC, and 3 shots over another Arrowhead member Scott Taylor.
Thank you to Jay Poletiek and Tom Pope of Callaway Golf for their continued support of this event. Also a big thank you to our host pro, Rob Gibbons, and to the entire Fisher Family for their support as well.
