Congratulations to Jeff Simonds and his team from Bandon Dunes Golf Resort for their victory in this year’s OPGA Team Championship (1 Gross & 2 Net Balls, stableford points) at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. They found themselves trailing round 1 leaders from Creekside GC by 8 points going into the final round, but Jeff and his team took advantage of their home course and put together the low round of the tournament with 120 points to earn them the championship with 227 pts, over Ray Comella and his team from Eastmoreland GC, 223 pts.
Scott Millhouser and his team from Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, Cody Rowe and team from Riverside G&CC, Nate Kitt and the team from Tetherow and Jeff Fought and his team from Creekside GC all tied for third with 222 points.Alan Reese from Club Green Meadows took home the top honors in the professional division with 71 pts over Jeff Fought from Black Butte Ranch with 70 pts. Dan Snoey from Riverside G&CC was able to accumulate 41 pts in the final round for a total of 75 pts to lead the amateur division over Byron Patton, 71 pts, from Eastmoreland GC. All of the players took were stunned when they showed up and saw that the weather was going to cooperate with highs in the mid 60’s and no wind…what? The golf courses (Bandon Trails – round 1 & Pacific Dunes – round 2) were in excellent condition and all of the staff members at the resort made everyone feel so welcome and right at home. We are already looking forward to the planning of the 2018 OPGA Team Championship.
